(In the final version of the cover, the birds are removed and the bicycling girl is placed on the back cover)

L'histoire d'un ado qui déménage dans une trou perdu et se bat pour devenir autre chose que le voyou maigrichon qu'on l'accuse d'être. Sa vie commence à changer quand il rencontre la fille de son patron, devient fasciné par un livre de Jean-Jacques Audubon et commence à dessiner des oiseaux.

(Les oiseaux sont retirés de la version finale et la fille au vélo est placée sur la quatrième de couverture)
